Apple have finally put the speculation to rest, they are releasing a mobile phone, and it will be called iPhone.

If you look at the technical details of the iPhone, there are standard features and a few stand out advances such as a multi-touch screen, but nothing that is ground breaking. The same could be said about the iPod when it was released. MP3 players existed for many years before the iPod but it was apple that made the MP3 player, or actually just the iPod, a must-have device. Motorola have experimented with supporting iTunes on their mobiles and found that it hasn't brought them the success they had hoped.

So will the iPhone be the next iPod, that's the question everybody (including me) is asking.
