Junction help? TU500

Hello all of game-thing.com :P

Junction was awesome for my TU500! then the website web down? and now it doesnt want to work for me

I'm getting this error:

Junction Error: File upload seems to have failed
Please try again
Uploading Java Game...
Retrieving mobile information...

Gthing Test works fine, and i have tried installing previous games on my phone that worked fine but still nothing.

USB Connection Mode is set to data service and dial up networking is USB as well, i have disabled my firewall and restarting computer and different USB ports but nothing seems to work

Any help would be great

EDIT: Direct web install works fine

Just came across this website and tried to use "Junction". It would appear that it still isn't working for the TU500/550??

Through a lot of searching, I managed to work out how load JAVA programs onto my phone using BitPim on my TU550, so it is possible.

Sorry for the delay in my reply.

Please read the note in the help file under "Filesystem" and be aware that you may cause damage to your phone. I take no responsibility for any damage this experiment may cause to your phone.

I assume that BitPim is working with the phone and that the filesystem part of BitPim has been enabled. If you don't know how to do this, then I would suggest that you find some details about BitPim and get that working first and also be aware what you can do to your phone with it.

This works on my LG TU550 phone. I haven't explored many other options or ways of doing this, so there may be a better way.

Make sure that you have both the jar and the jad files. If you don't have the jad file, then there are pieces of software that can help you generate this file.
Change the jar and the jad file name to something like 05.jar and 05.jad. With a text editor, edit the line in the jad file to reflect this change also.
For example:
MIDlet-Jar-URL: 05.jar

Open BitPim and make sure you can connect to your phone. In the left hand BitPim window, you should have Filesystem. Click on Filesystem then in the middle window you should have an explorer style file list.
Expand the following:
/
LGAPP
Media
Java
ams

Upload the jad and jar file into the ams directory.

Create a directory that is the same number as your file name.

For the example above, you would upload 05.jar, 05.jad and create the directory 05 under the ams folder.

You will see other directories and files there also and you will need to make sure that you have chosen a new filename/directory number to what already exists there.

In the ams directory, delete the files contentInfo and contentInfB.

Once this is done, close BitPim and unplug your phone.

Browse to My Media and then Games & Applications.

You will probably find that your phone seems to hang for an extra second or two on going into Games & Applications. I assume that this is recreating the contentInfo and contentInfB files.

Once the Games & Apps screen comes up, you should have access to your newly uploaded Java applications!

If you have success with this, then you might like to let us all know.

Good luck!

Regards,
Leight

This works perfectly on an LG TU500 . I had tried renaming the .jar and .jad files as numbers and putting them in the ams directory, but it doesnt work unless you delete the contentInfo and contentInfB files. Great work in figuring that out!!!

I am not sure what you mean by how to use BitPim to do the above.

If you aren't sure about how to use BitPim, I would strongly suggest you read through the BitPim web page and become familiar with it. It is a fairly powerful tool and you could potentially render your phone unusable.

For information about BitPim see here:
Welcome to BitPim
BitPim

I am guessing, but you might need to do a bit of searching for "Filesystem" on those pages and then read carefully.

Hope that this helps.

Cheers,
Leight
