Cool Game upload section added

Some time ago game-thing.com launched a service called directWebInstall.

directWebInstall was popular but a large portion of people could not use it since it was limited to windows versions prior to Windows XP. With the release of junction a new method was developed to allow more people to download games to their mobile over the web.

directWebInstall has new been re-released and re-designed to use the same technology as junction and to allow anybody to upload games or applications into the directWebInstall directory. This means that not only will more people be able to download games using directWebInstall, but anybody can upload game using it. Also, for those that can't get the over-the-web install method working, you can download the JAD and JAR files from directWebInstall games.

So to all of you who asked if you could put your games and applications on game-thing.com, the answer is now yes!

Good luck with that!

Hi Ryan, great service! Two comments:
1. Why is 'jad' labelled 'required', but 'jar' isn't?
2. The 'top 5' listing initially game me the impression that that's all there was. Perhaps you can give a count of the files uploaded against each category, to give users an idea of how many files are available, eg:
Messaging (1)
Book (2)
Cheers

Hi aineverfail,

Congratulation on being the first to use it.

1. I guess I wanted to make sure that when people submitted gamed/apps for hosting they included a JAD and not just a JAR so I emphasized that the JAD was required. I see that it doesn't look correct to have the JAD as required and the JAR without comment. I will fix that one.

2. Thats a good idea. I did intend on having a total count of all games and apps but a count per section would be even better.

Any comments/suggestions are welcome from anyone

Great idea, but there are not many applications uploaded, so some more apps would be even greater...

I have some LG Games, will upload some soon...

directWebInstall as it is now is actually how I originally wanted to design the service but you could say that my technical skills where not advanced enough.

The directory is a bit empty since it has only just started but every midlet added is another one that can be downloaded. Over time as people add their favorite games and applications it should turn into a great service.

When a few more entries are added I will show a "most recent additions" list as well as a "top uploaders" list on the main directory page to get new entries some exposure as well as getting exposure to applications from regular uploaders.

OK, cool, but I have one question. When I was adding a game, it told me that no illegal content is allowed. I dont know if games I have r illegal or not. They r not free, they have to be bought from a vendor, so is that illegal or not?

A game that you would normally have to pay for would be considered illegal if you do not have permission from the vendor to distribute it here.
