Lightbulb microSD card competition

Greetings all,

Have you seen the directWebInstall game and application directory?

Firstly, I would like to thank all of those that have submitted entries to the directory, well done!

The directory is growing, slowly, and to help the directory get some momentum game-thing.com is running a competition.

The user with the highest number of games and applications in the directory on February 28th 2007 will receive a 1GB micro SD card. In addition to this first prize, a 512MB micro SD card will be given to two people at random who have at least one entry in the directory. This includes any existing entries except for any made by myself. Only entries accepted into the directory are counted so make sure you submit your entries for moderation.

Simple as that.
1 x 1GB micro SD card for the highest uploader
2 x 512MB micro SD cards for random uploaders

Of course, to have an entry accepted into the directory you must not submit illegal material and you must include a good description with an icon and at least one image. A good entry will almost always be accepted. A bad entry will never be accepted.

Time to get going with those submissions!

Update: Please make sure you fill in all fields including Name, vendor, category, subcategory, URL, description, icon, JAD, and JAR. For various reasons, missing any of these fields will have your submission returned to you for editing. A good description that details the good features of the entry may get you past not having a category or icon.

Just an update to this,

Please make sure the games and applications you upload are free. If the game distribution company requires a payment to download the game, then it is illegal to put it in the directWebInstall directory.

Also, no adult content please. Many people who use this website are 17 or under.

Prizes improved!

The microSD card prizes arrived in the mail a few days ago with some surprises...

First prize is now a 1GB microSD card instead of a 512MB card,
The two random prizes are now 512MB microSD cards instead of 64MB cards.

All you have to do to be in the running to win one of the 512MB cards is upload one game or application that gets accepted into the directWebInstall database. To win the big one you must have the most accepted uploads by February 28th 2007.

How fantastic is that?

Not long to go on this competition. If you would like to put yourself in the running for a 512MB microSD card, all you have to do is upload and have accepted one game or application.

the download counter is very simple and will count every single download as opposed to only counting the number of unique people that download it.

Mobile bible has been very popular on this site. I often get questions about how to use it or where to get alternative versions for different languages and so on. The downloads are quite genuine. It is, after all, an application that remains useful for a long period of time.

How do I opt in to receive the newsletter? I can't see any option on the site or forum that would let me do that...

You can opt-in by going to your USER CP and looking under the Edit Options for Receive Email from Administrators including a regular Newsletter.

Kind of cryptic I know. I will put a link up somewhere more visible over the next few days.
