GThing 1.7.3 has been released!
Support for new phones include:
- LG CU500
- LG TU500
- LG U8290
Major bug fixes for the LG U8210 and LG U400. There is still a known bug with the U8210 support for some large directories. I am looking into this but for the most part, the U8210 functions wonderfully.
The Nokia Emulator has been updated in this release
More graphics transformation and graphics formats from the nokia mobile phone API have been implemented. This basically means that any nokia games that have had missing graphics or graphics that were backwards should now be fixed.
GThing now also needs to be
registered before use. This is done automatically without interaction if you are connected to the internet, just like magic. If you are installing GThing on a computer without an internet connection then you will need your registration (rego.bin) file from a computer that your copy of GThing was installed on to that has internet access.
Automod still has not matured enough for general release. This is a feature I am itching to bring you but the technology just isn't quite there yet. Some automods that will be released as soon as they are ready include:
- Screenshot: Take a screenshot of any game or application on your mobile phone and save it to your memory card. Ideal for game reviewers or if you want to save proof of your high score, or just send an in-game picture to somebody.
- Minimize: Minimize any java application into the background with the press of a key not normally used by java applications such as the camera button. (not available on all mobiles)
- Screen Resize: Automatically resize any game to the full size of your mobiles screen. Useful for mobiles with screen resolutions 240x320 or higher.
- Save Game Editor: Open a save game editor for any java game much like the old days of DOS gaming.
Junction up to speed
Junction has also been updated to support the new phones and updated nokia emulator.
Don't forget to report bugs. GThing is changing quite quickly at the moment so its easy for small bugs to creep in.
Good luck with that!
