GThing is a PC application to upload Java games and apply other customizations to compatible LG 3G mobile phones. GThing works by using the USB cable supplied with your phone to talk to your mobile. GThing may also operate over an IrDA connection if your phone and computer suppoert this mode of operation. The current version of GThing is 1.7.4

In addition to uploading games to your phone, GThing can also do the following:

• Upload and Download Images, Videos, and Sounds. Includes wallpapers, ringtones, smstones, videotones, camera pictures, and voice recorder sounds.
• Display preview thumbnails of images and videos. Essential for locating specific images to download!
• Replace normally inaccessable SMS tones, Camera Shutter Sounds, Flip Tones, and Success and Failure tones.
• Java Games can be downloaded from you phone to your PC. Backup your games!
• Provide a Nokia Emulation layer allowing some nokia games to be played.
• Decode DRM protected files (downloaded music, videos, and pictures)
• Perform many other system customization tasks such as changing soft key functionality or system setttings via the use of Tools.

Please note: Not all features are supported on all handsets. Specifically, all supported handsets can upload Java games, Images, Sounds, and Videos. SMS tones, Flip tones, Success and failure tones only supported on u8110, u8120, u8130, u8138. Preview thumbnails only supported on devices using SE internals, i.e. u8380 and earlier and the u400. Decoding of DRM content only supported on u8110. Tools support varies depending on specific tool. GSM phones such as the KG800 and P7200 only support uploading of java applications, no other functionality.

We aim to support a large range of mobiles and are constanly adding new models to the supported phones list. If your phone is not on the supported list then you may like to try our tool called GThingTest. A completely free application that uses the same method as GThing to install a small game on to your phone. If GThingTest works then GThing should also work. You can also send the output of GThingTest to help in the support of new mobiles.

Every new version of GThing adds support for new phones so be sure to try GThingTest, email your results, and check regularly to see if your phone has been supported.

As and added bonus, GThing also comes with a java game included. Currently, the included java game is Furniture Frenzy. However, in the future, a different game will be included as Furniture Frenzy is made available as a seperate free download.
